Diligence & Joy

A big part of our one-room school house is the desire to help our kids gain a joyful passion for work.

Work is a blessing, and we want to encourage their hearts to be diligent and joyful in whatever it is that they're asked to do. And above all, we desire that they would learn to do all things for the glory and praise of their Savior, not for the approval of man.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." Proverbs 16:3

"He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty." Proverbs 28:19

"Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor." Proverbs 12:24

Diligence is a skill. It takes lots of opportunity, time and practice to grow into diligence.

So together we work.

The kids have their specific jobs, but most things we do together as a family. We do the laundry together, we clean the kitchen together after every meal. We're working on learning how to clean the bathrooms, correctly. :)

And for this Mama who spends her days, neck high in house hold chores, I am determined to find the joy in all that He gives... even in the seemingly mundane.

Because really, when we're doing all for the glory of God, even the mundane can find unspeakable joy...

Just check out these treasures...
Listening to Foster The People...
Shaking their booty...
And getting a little laundry done! :)

{ They may not be very skilled dancers... but they are VERY skilled in the art of finding joy. :) }
