Fists Full Of Spinach

I woke up this morning to a gorgeous Fall morning. We move in one week , hopefully for the last time for many years to come. And although this has most definitely NOT been my most favorite house, I will say that the I have most enjoyed waking up each morning to this...

I was the first one up this morning... a few rare moments alone. I opened the sliding glass door that leads out to our backyard, stuck my head out and took a very deep breath of the cool brisk air. Pure loveliness for sure.

I talked to the Lord for a few minutes... listened for a few minutes... then convinced myself that I needed get up off the hardwood chair in the kitchen and start my day. I opened the fridge and let my eyes search the shelves for something not yet known. I needed energy, a pick me up.
I decided on a smoothie and some good old fashioned oats for the whole fam...
Wanna know how I get my kids to eat spinach?? Well, oddly, my kids actually like spinach... I just put a little of Trader Joe's Poppy seed dressing on it with some other veggies and they gobble it up. But another way that I can pack in the good stuff is by disguising it in a smoothie. I tell the kids that my smoothie concoction is "Pure Breakfast Delight." And once I say those words, the whole crowd goes wild! Three cheers for smoothie mornings! They can't even taste the spinach! All the nutrition, without the texture or the taste of it's original form!
Here's how we do it...
My kiddos don't really drink milk... Their Papa and Mama don't care much for milk either, which is probably why they don't care for it much... Soo in our smoothies we have been using almond milk ( Thanks T for this idea. :)

Toss in a large scoop of vanilla yogurt...
Pick a fruit... this morning happen to be peaches for us...

Grab a couple fists full of Spinach...

Blend, Blend Blend!!!

And WA-LA!!! You have a delicious breakfast smoothie full of good nutrients for your little bunch of treasures!

And to make our breakfast complete... a hearty bowl of oatmeal does just the trick!
We buy it in bulk at the Sunflower Farmer's Market in town....

Boil some water... toss in a cup of oats... stir, stir, stir... add a pinch of brown sugar... sprinkle a handful of craisens... and there ya have it!
A delicious breakfast on a BEAUTIFUL Fall morning!!!
