The Weather Situation

Sometimes its hard to know how good you have it, until you move on and you become brutally aware of the fact that what you had is long gone... I'm talking about the weather here in Kansas country. Out here on the plains of Colorado (just on the brink of what I imagine Kansas to look like... cuz I've never actually even been to Kansas :), the weather is the most peculiar of things. I feel sorry for the weather man. There really is no way to predict what the day is going to hold in terms of temperature, climate... the whole kit and caboodle! Last week we were outside playing. It was in the mid sixties. Then in less than five minutes time, clouds came over head and it TOTALLY started to hail. I'm not even exaggerating here. I'm telling you, this place is a bit on the crazy side with it's weather situation...

Anyways, I am carrying on and on about the weather because it has caused me to come up with some new things to do. I don't think I was nearly as aware as I should have been about the major blessing of being able to go outside most of the year in CA. Today I was hoping to post about a little hike across the plains in our front yard that I was hoping to take with our treasures this morning... but we had to come up with plan B... because, by golly, it was absolutely freezing outside and there was no sense in getting everyone bundled up...

So instead...

We played a zillion games (ok maybe only three :) of Memory on the floor in our kitchen.

We read books and lined up all of Siah's cars in a huge long row around the living room.

We ate a lot of snacks and I answered a lot of questions, and broke up a few little fights.

Then we made paper bag puppets...
And the kids actually did a pretty good job!

Halee made a bird... And Siah made a lion...

And little Reesie made a mess!!! She would take some of the pieces, examine them throughly, and then chuck them on the floor! Lovely! But as you can see below, she was sure happy about it! :)

Siah is such a kind brother letting Reesie help him put the stickers on his puppet...

And Here are the finished products...

Now everyone is napping... and I'm off to do the same thing!!! Bye for now!! :)
