Tis The Season

I haven't really left our little farm since Sunday (except for a few nights out with friends... WTHOUT my many small treasures! Kinda nice. :) I'm not sad about the countless hours in our humble farm house in the slightest. Our home has been this sweet, joy-filled, safe-haven the past few days... it's been filled with friends and laughter, meals shared and kids imagining, warm mugs filled with hot tea and honey enjoyed in a sun filled rocking chair. Christmas movies have flooded our television in the late afternoons and I've been falling asleep after pouring over God's Word, wrapped up under the covers of our nice warm bed! It has been lovely I tell ya!!!

The kids and I made Christmas stars yesterday and decorated the windows in our new school room with them. Truly, I am not really a crafty gal but this was a project that anyone could do...

I found the idea in Family Fun Magazine... But you can also find it online here...
Just start with three pieces of construction paper (all the same color), and tear them into domino size pieces...

Put the pieces in a blender and add 1 1/2 cups of steaming hot water. Let sit for five minutes...
Then bled until pulpy...
Drain mixture in strainer....

On counter, place a folded cloth towel topped with a paper towel. Place star cookie cutters on top of paper towel... Then press a handful of the mixture into the cookie cutters... Press down to drain as much water as possible...

Add glitter... (We used sprinkles cuz that's all we had :)...

Place on a cookie sheet...

And bake for 2 hours on 200...

Then we poked a hole in the top with a nail and put a ribbon through the hole. ..

We hung them in the windows in our school room...

We've also been doing a little decorating around here... I love pulling out the Christmas box full of decorations and ornaments.

We have Christmas music on in the background. It's Jed's first Christmas...

So the other kiddos give him the official initiation ceremony...
At first he's happy with some new things to chew on...

But it didn't take long for him to change his mind...

The other kids on the other hand, covered each other in the stuff and laughed and laughed...

We ate cookies on the floor in the living room...

Hal put on a ballet show for us...

While I was getting Jed ready for bed we stuck a stocking on his head and the crew took turns trying to make him laugh... Man this kid is cute...

We started our Jesse tree a couple days ago...

To get your own printable Jesse Tree book you can visit Ann @ aholyexperience.com
She designed it herself and it's a great way to get into scripture each night with all your little treasures...

Well tomorrow we're off to cut down our own Christmas tree for the first time ever...
A friend asked me at church tonight where we were going to do this lovely adventure and all I could think to say was, "uhhh,..the forest?" Fortunately my Joey knows all the ins and outs of these sorts of things... So, I'll be sure to take lots of photos and post them on this lovely blog in due time. :)

Until then...

(PS, I have no idea why everything I type is just being underlined... but the truth is that I have no clue how to get rid of the underlining. :)

Anyways.... :)
