Rodeo Days

I love this picture.
It's how it really is.
It was too sunny.
Siah tried to be a good brother and "hold" Hal's eyes open for her since she was having a little trouble.
The Spunky Girl just kept repeating, "I can't see. I can't see. I can't see."
And the Charmer, he must have magic eyes, because he had no trouble at all looking at me and saying "cheese" until his heart's content.

I love these kids.

The day the Rodeo comes to town is one of the best days of the year on the farm.
Everyone gets all fired up.
The girls plan their outfits and we scour the farmhouse looking for enough Cowboy hats for everyone in the fam to wear.

We go to Rudy's before the show and eat some of the best BBQ around.
The thing I love most about the Rodeo is that it just might be one of the last American sporting events that puts God front and center. They always open with a prayer and everyone in the stands cheers when the announcer reminds us all that what America needs is Jesus.

My Dad sits in the row behind us with all the kids and I love looking back every once in a while and seeing him laughing at all the announcers jokes.

Have I mentioned lately that I'm pregnant... REALLY pregnant?
The kiddos kept dropping their hats and stuff on the floor and me bending to pick it all up... well, let's just say it was all a little humorous. LOL. :)

The Dancing Girl LIGHTS up whenever the "Cowgirl Of The West" Enters the arena on her horse. She watches the Cowgirl, and I watch her. I love to see my Hal glow like that. :)

I love Rodeo Days...
Cuz what can be sweeter than a bunch of farm kids cheering at a little cow roping, a family sharing a glorious funnel cake, & a bunch of Cowboys providing a lovely night of family fun??

Not a lotta! :)

The Birthday

Birthdays are lovely in this place.
My birthday seemed to last for a week this year and I just kept on feeling blessed!
I woke up to strawberry waffles.
And I drank a Sonic Watermelon Cream Slush while I got a pedicure with two of my most dear friends.
That night we had a picnic and ate carrot cake at the park with our small group.

Then over the weekend, the Cowboy blessed my socks off and replaced the floors in our kitchen and dining room. And to top it all off, we spent Sunday afternoon up in Denver with two of my favorite couples in the world, eating dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. It was lovely, just lovely!

My sweet Grandma blessed me with this scripture decal for my wall...

And as for our floors... I saw these on Pinterest awhile back and showed them to the Cowboy. I'm not sure if he loved them immediately like I did, but he must have liked them enough because now they're in our kitchen. :)

What our kitchen looked like before....

He ripped out all the old floors...

and he cut each plank for the new floors... and nailed each plank in with a hammer.

The new Farmhouse floors.....!!!!

Have I mentioned that I just LOVE THEM!!!!!  Blessed, I tell ya! I just feel so blessed. :)

Thanks to all y'all who made this birthday so sweet! :)

Summer In This Place

Summer in this place...

Eating cherries on the porch.

Rides around the farm with Gramps and his "Rhino".

Little girls changing clothes a dozen times a day.

Kid faces covered in dirt.

Catching kittens in the stable.

Lying on the trampoline looking up at the clouds.

Forts and sleepovers.

Ice cream in the freezer.

Piles of fresh fruits and veggies available for the taking, left out on the farm table.

Long days, staying up late, sleeping in.

Books. Reading lots of good books.

Never ending lists of projects.

Mowing, mowing, and more mowing.

Peach Cobbler.

Long afternoon naps under the ceiling fan in the family room.

Morning sunshine flooding the farmhouse with patches of light.

Afternoon showers watering the vegetable garden.

Watermelon. Cherries. Oh how I love cherries!

Everything's fresh in summer.

Friends.

Eager helpers.

Laughing Treasures.

Blueberry pancakes with whipped cream on Sunday mornings.

A Cowboy and his wife in their rocking chairs on the front porch.

I love this little farm in summer...
